Selected work, specific requirements

Portfolio websites for filmmakers

Present selected films and photography with the context a commissioner needs: the project, your role and the work you want to do next. We build a portfolio structure around those decisions.

Make the role behind the work clear

A film may involve a director, cinematographer, editor and wider crew. Explain your contribution alongside selected work so a prospective collaborator can judge the right expertise. Agree which credits and project information you have permission to publish.

Organise films by the way clients choose: role, format or a small number of relevant categories. A reel can introduce your work, while individual project pages provide the context that a montage cannot.

Photography and film collections for Sheehan Suthar

The Sheehan Suthar project brings photography and video categories, project pages and responsive design into one filmmaker portfolio. The case study describes the site structure and selected implementation work.

Use it to assess our approach to presenting different media. Your film hosting, access restrictions, credits and editing needs should be agreed in a separate brief.

Plan the media, context and next step

01

Selected films

Choose the reel and individual pieces a commissioner should see first. Record titles, poster images, credits and any permission or availability limits.

02

Playback and loading

Discuss video hosting and embedding, mobile playback and when media loads. Avoid requiring every visitor to download a set of large films just to see the project list.

03

Production enquiries

Make it clear which roles or kinds of work you take on. Ask for the minimum useful production context and give visitors a direct contact route.

Consider the viewing conditions

A visitor may be browsing on a phone, with limited bandwidth or without sound. Poster images and readable project summaries give the work context before playback. Captions or transcripts should be considered with the media and supplied or scoped explicitly.

Private screeners, expiring links, client feedback and large-file delivery are separate workflows. If your project needs them, identify who should have access and whether a dedicated external service is a better fit.

Make the next project easy to add

Decide who will publish new work, whether projects share a template and how titles, credits and hosting links are managed. A handover should describe the editing process and ownership of the relevant accounts.

Prepare approved film links, stills, project summaries and credits before design reviews. Review the actual media on mobile and desktop and test the enquiry route after a visitor has explored a project.

Questions about the project

Yes. Separate collections can help visitors find the relevant work while preserving one clear contact route and studio identity.

That depends on the hosting, playback, privacy and delivery requirements. Discuss these before selecting an implementation; video hosting fees are not automatically part of the build.

No. We can define and test how the portfolio presents your work and invites an enquiry. Commission volume depends on your audience, offer, reputation and how people discover the site.
